snowed in exercises

When you are snowed in sometimes it’s easy to take on a sedentary lifestyle. If you are in a routine or run to the gym whenever you want to work out, it can seem hard to get the motivation to work out otherwise. It can be good therefore to know that there are some great exercises that you can do at home or wherever you might be. If you can get yourself motivated and take a new outlook on that snowy day, you can workout anywhere and stay fit no matter what. These exercises are great for keeping up the motivation and interest, and helping you to achieve great results.

When you are snowed in you may want to get the most out of your time. So focusing on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) can be a great way to do so. You hit it hard for a shorter amount of time. The key however is that you are working the body much harder in terms of intensity and therefore get great value for your time spent. You can find some great HIIT workout DVD’s or even makeup your own. Be sure to include cardio movements such as burpees, mountain climbers, and jumping jacks along with lunges, squats, push ups, and strength training movements.

Use What You Have and Make It Work For You

When you’re snowed in you may also find that using any equipment that you have in the house works. If you have an elliptical or treadmill in your home then use that. If you have a jump rope then take advantage of that. Even climbing the stairs for a significant amount of time can give you some great cardio. Get resourceful and find ways of incorporating strength and cardio into your routine. Some bicep curls with lunges help to work several body parts at a time, and you can find a lot of great examples of this to do even online.

When you’re snowed in you may also wish to get outside and enjoy a bit of snowshoeing or ice skating. Even shoveling the snow can help you to work up a sweat in a pinch. Try to keep a number of workout DVD’s on hand at home so that you can always squeeze in a workout even if you’re stuck at home. Simple but effective workouts can help you to stay fit even when the weather outside doesn’t permit a visit to the gym. Stay motivated, keep it interesting, and you may find a whole new way of working out when you can’t quite make your usual workout.
